Who Is ALICE?

ALICE by Temperley is the sister line of Temperley London and was launched for Spring Summer 2010. The Idea behind the line was to reach a wider market and also allowing existing customers to mix high and low end pieces to create the perfect wardrobe.

I discovered ALICE through twitter. I really like their Autumn Winter 2010 collection, which includes graphic prints and bright knits. It is the kind of clothing I would like to be kept warm in this winter.

The Autumn Winter 2010 ALICE by Temperley collection is 'a paean to the English eclectic, a youthful remix of the magpie style that is as much a tradition in England as tea and cake and cricket.'

The collection features graphic abstract and ethnic prints, military silhouettes and embellishment alongside rich velvet textures and hammered satin. Tailored waistcoats and draped jerseys emulate vintage drawing room sophistication juxtaposed against a dash of Punk studs and denim. Intarsia-knit tunic dresses and crop tops capture the indifference of England's Bohemia, from Hamstead Heath to Bloomsbury Square to Carnaby Street to Hoxton.

The collection still has Temperely's own signature streetwise femininity running through it. Hemlines are short, waists are nipped, trousers are low-slung and layering is key. Textures are rich and garments are finished to a high standard.

I personally really love English Style and it is something I look towards when doing my own designs. The culture is so rich, diverse and inspiring. What I really like is the opposite elements mixed together in this collection to make a wearable, ladylike range.
